Here are 10 things some think society is better off without.

1. Microtransactions

Gone are the days when purchasing a video game meant full access to its world. Today, microtransactions, loot boxes, and subscriptions have introduced a never-ending cycle of spending.

2. AI

Artificial Intelligence promises a future of convenience, but at what point does it cross the line from being a helpful companion to being intrusive? As we delegate more of our lives to AI, it’s worth thinking about the privacy we trade for convenience.

Get-rich-quick schemes, MLMs, and a ton of other pyramid schemes are nothing new. With the internet making scams and shady business models alike more prevalent, many are growing wary of the deceptive nature of these programs.

Boosting production to feed billions, factory farming has drawn widespread criticism for the treatment of animals to the use of hormones in feed. While factory farming increases food production, some are asking about the real costs.

5. Shrinkflation

Companies make products smaller but keep the price the same. It’s a cost-saving measure that is draining consumer wallets for less actual product.

Social media platforms, built to “connect” people, can sometimes feel like they’re widening the gap between people. Amidst the shares and likes, many are questioning if social media is doing more harm than good.
