Many things can make life stressful. Having problems with money, health, or relationships are just some of the common stressors. To find the most and least stressed state, a full 40 indicators of stress were considered.

The crime rate, the economy, and the access to health care are all stressors that were taken into consideration. According to WalletHub, these are the states that are the most and the least stressed.

These states have so much stress that it can impact residents’ quality of life. There are a lot of different kinds of stress, and these states rank highly for many of them.

Louisiana

As the most stressed state, it has a lot of serious problems. It’s among the very poorest states and has a lot of problems with education and crime. It has a lot of work-related and health-related stress, giving it a total score of 57.84.

Mississippi

As the poorest state, it ranks highest for money stress. However, it also ranks high for family stress and work-related stress. It’s just a stressful place to be all around. It has a score of 57.78.

Nevada

This state comes in first for family-related stress. It also ranks high for stress around health and safety. People in this state also worry a lot about money. Nevada earned a score of 57.42.

New Mexico

As a state with a high poverty rate, money is stressful here. The state also ranks very highly for the amount of family-related stress its residents have. The Land of Enchantment gets a total score of 55.77.

Arkansas

Arkansas ranks as the state with the highest amount of health and safety stress. It also has a high ranking for its money-related stress. It has an overall stress score of 53.16.

West Virginia

This state ranks second for its amount of health and safety stress. Its residents also have a lot of money-related stress, and it’s easy to see why. It’s one of the poorest states and has a struggling economy. Its score is 52.01.

Alabama

The Heart of Dixie is second when it comes to money-related stress. It also has a great deal of stress around health and safety. Medical care access isn’t great, and the economy is one of the worst in the nation. It has a score of 51.73

The Least Stressed States

These states have a very different vibe. They are less stressed out and have a far more chill lifestyle. These might be places to go if your state is too stressful for you.

Minnesota

Not much bothers the residents of Minnesota. It ranks dead last for its money-related stress and close to the bottom for its family-related stress. People there can relax and enjoy a pie. The state scores 30.23.

South Dakota

South Dakota comes in last for its family-related stress. It’s a state with very little health and safety stress as well. This state gets a total score of 31.94 for its relaxed state of mind.

Utah

This state ranks last for its absence of work-related stress. People here don’t worry about their jobs, and they don’t worry about family-related stress either. This beautiful state scores a 33.45.

New Hampshire

This small state ranks very low for its money-related stress. It also doesn’t tend to worry about family-related stress. People aren’t worried about much in this state which scores a 34.60.

Iowa

This state ranks almost last when it comes to its money stress. It also doesn’t have a lot of family-related stress. It sounds like things are going well in this rural state which scores 34.93.

Idaho

In Idaho, there are very low scores for both work-related stress and family-related stress. People are relaxing in this state and enjoying its amazing scenery. It gets a 35.23.

North Dakota

There’s not a lot of money-related dress going on in North Dakota. There’s also not much family-related or health and safety-related stress. It’s a chill place to live and has a score of 35.35.
